Elmstead CC vs. Little Bardfield Village CC

01/07/2023

Elmstead CC won the toss and elected to bat first.

It was a tough day out in the field with opener Josh Elliot racking up 151 runs (and breaking 1 bat) before being bowled out by Daryl, who also saw off the other opener for 73 runs and later picked up a third wicket of the day. Rory (2), Rich, Joe and Ben (who gave his best bowling performance to date) took the rest of the wickets.

We struggled to find our rhythm with the bat, however Rory showed fight scoring 43 runs before getting caught off a rogue bouncer. The top order chipped in with around 20 runs each but we couldn't build any substantial partnerships.

Will showed great determination and judgement putting up 51 runs but the tailenders found it tough to hang in here with him against Elmstead's spirited (and youthful) bowling attack. In spite of their efforts we managed to hang in there with Will to get us over the 200 run mark and score us potentially valuable bonus points.

A frustrating day for the boys but we'll regroup and go again Saturday when we are at home to Copdock. #UpTheOxslips
