New Players Wanted!
Little Bardfield Cricket Club is on the look out for new players!
Are you interested in joining a cricket club?! Whether you're a seasoned pro or just thinking about starting out, we would love to invite you to join us at LBVCC!
If you're looking for a 'big club' approach that takes itself very seriously, then we may not be the club for you - we play against enough of those clubs to know it's not really how we want to be. However, if you like the sound of playing for team that takes takes it cricket seriously but not necessarily each other... then look no further!
We're a small club that has a rich history of punching above our weight upsetting those big clubs by doing what we do best - playing cricket, having a laugh and getting a few drinks in after the game.
We have had a lot of new players join in recent years so now is a great time to join the club as it grows. Others have played at Bardfield for years with some now travelling long distances to stay playing with us; so we must be doing something right!
Our season begins in April but we have winter nets running until the start of the season so why not pop along to see if joining LBVCC is for you!? First net sessions are free for for new members!
You can contact us through the website today!
Still need convincing? Here's some more reasons we think you should join LBVCC:
The Ground & Facilities
Our picturesque little cricket ground is set into the Uttlesford countryside, just off of the main road through Little Bardfield surrounded by local farmer's fields. It really is a beautiful place to spend a Saturday afternoon!
Not only is it lovely to look at, but in recent years we have invested heavily in our grass wickets as well as a new artificial wicket due to be laid ahead of the 2024 season means that it's also a great place to play cricket!
The fully licensed and very reasonably priced bar in the clubhouse is a great addition (one of the perks of having a brewery as a club sponsor!)
The Cricket
Our club strives to offer cricket opportunities for everyone, no matter your background, age or ability.
Our first team competes at a high level in the Two Counties league, playing Saturday league fixtures across Essex and Suffolk. In recent years we have lost a few key players to family/life commitments which means its a great time to join as we're actively seeking new players to help strengthen our squad going forward. The last couple of years has also seen our club attract a significant number of social players who are loving our approach and would like you to join us!
We also run a number of social fixtures each year as well as running a successful junior cricket offer for young people aged 8-15 years.
We recognise that some people may only wish to play a handful of games rather than committing to a full season and payment of annual subscriptions can be a big ask if you don't plan to play all summer - this is why LBVCC's fees are not only significantly cheaper than other local clubs, but the club has also created different match fee approaches for those playing fewer games to make sure playing cricket doesn't break the bank!
The Wider Club
Having been constituted over 100 years ago, joining LBVCC means you'll be joining a rich history of cricket at our club. You can see more detail about the history of the club here.
LBVCC players are a very social group and enjoy each other's company on and off the field with a number of social events throughout the year. Having positioned ourselves as a community hub in recent years the club also hosts a number of community events throughout the summer bringing club members and local residents together to have a good time. It also helps that the club is sponsored by a local brewery!
